Student Admission – Admission Criteria

The Postgraduate Program admits graduates in the fields of Life Sciences, Natural Sciences, Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Veterinary Medicine, Informatics, Statistics, Nutrition and Dietetics, Agricultural Sciences, or Departments of a related subject of domestic Universities or recognized equivalent institutions abroad, as well as graduates of TEI of a related subject. The admission stages are:

 

By decision of the Department Assembly, an announcement for the admission of postgraduate students is published and posted on the Department’s website. The announcement includes all relevant details (dates and place of submission of the application, necessary supporting documents that must accompany it, etc.).

The conditions and criteria for selecting candidates are specific, quantitative and/or qualitative, and are made known to the candidates with the announcement

The relevant applications, together with the necessary supporting documents, are submitted to the Department Secretariat, within a deadline specified in the announcement and may be extended by decision of the Department Assembly. Candidates should carefully check the instructions to ensure that the application is submitted in full by the deadline.

Moreover, incomplete or late supporting documents will not be accepted.

 

Candidates should submit electronically to the address bioinf@mbg.duth.gr:

a) Application for participation in the selection process for the postgraduate program

b) Detailed Curriculum Vitae

c) Copy of first-cycle degree (BSc) or certificate of completion of studies from Higher Education Institutions in Greece or equivalent recognized Institutions abroad (the institution awarding the foreign title must belong to the National Register of Recognized Foreign Institutions and the type of this title must belong to the National Register of Types of Degrees of Recognized Foreign Institutions posted on the DOATAP website)

d) Diploma Supplement or certificate of detailed grades, which also indicates the degree grade

e) Photocopy of both sides of the identity card, or of the passport,

f) Additional documents/evidence specified in the Regulations of the Postgraduate Programme by the Department Assembly (such as knowledge of English, certified knowledge of using a computer, second first-cycle degree, other postgraduate qualification, doctoral degree, letters of recommendation, professional experience, publications, conferences). The exact procedure is described each time in the announcement.

 

At this point, the candidates’ files are examined and evaluated (scored). Files that are not complete are not examined. The maximum score for each file is 60 points.

In addition, the candidates are invited to an interview by members of the Committee, on issues of expertise – familiarity with education and special education, on research issues as well as on issues of broader pedagogical, scientific and social interest. The interviews are scored separately by each member of the Committee. The maximum score for the interview is 40 points.

The final score takes into account:

a) the file score at a rate of 60% and

b) the interview score at a rate of 40%.

The final selection of candidates is made based on the scoring of the information and certificates that will be submitted in the application file, as well as the interview score, with a maximum score of 100 points.

The final ranking lists are posted on the website before the start of the first semester courses. The results are announced to the candidates and their registration in the P.M.S. follows.
